Ben Ficklin was the first county seat of Tom Green county in Texas. When a flood destroyed the small community in 1882, residents chose to move the county seat to San Angelo. Once moved, the county government operated out of four different courthouses before moving to its current location in 1928. This is just one of the interesting facts about the county Tom Green.
